![]() ![]() ![]() Ghosts of the past they wish they’d left behind, ghosts of love they once turned down, ghosts of regret and ghosts of loss. Nothing more horrible than people, their interactions and the amount of pain and hurt they can inflict, with a single word or gesture.Įveryone has ghosts that follow them throughout their lives. Yes, there are ghost and encounters and possibly demons just like in the previous ones, but nothing compares to the human soul and the exposion of the inner-most thoughts and feelings. The 4th installment in the mindf*ckingly awesome Experiment in Terror series, is the scariest book of them all. By blood and by choice, we make our own ghosts we haunt ourselves.” Diana GabaldonĦ or maybe 7 SHOCKING & AMAZING & LYING Stars We look in the mirror and see shades of other faces looking back through the years we see the shape of memory, standing solid in an empty doorway. ![]() All the time the ghosts flit past and through us, hiding in the future. I can't think of a better way to start this review, than using my all-time favourite quote. ![]() ![]() ![]() Homer’s Iliad begins with a plague sent upon the Greek camp at Troy by Apollo to punish the Greeks for Agamemnon’s enslavement of Chryseis. Thucydides’ History of the Peloponnesian War too has references to the plague that wreak havoc in the lives of the people. This is not the only text from classical literature that deals with such an epidemic. ![]() ![]() The resonance with our times, as we live through a pandemic that is affecting us in so many different ways, is constantly with me as I teach the text. This year as I have been reading the play and discussing various aspects of it, what strikes me most is the reference to an epidemic that is wreaking havoc in the lives of the citizens of Thebes. Plague figures importantly in the text and is the reason why things move in the direction that they do leading on to the tragedy of Oedipus. Sophocles’ Oedipus Rex is a text that I have been teaching for some years now. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I'm just a sucker for full cast audio books. they did great but I'd like it better if they use the female voice to voice the female even during the males point of view. Which then are covered by the male and female voice actors. So the book is sectioned up into two point of views. I think the way Naomi writes her hero's dialogue is always my favorite part in her books. And Vruksha's and Gemma's interactions? Whew! They are so dang spicy. I really enjoyed listening to this story and being able to experience it a second time. He gave the character such a primal, alien quality. For the audio book, it notched it up a step to actually hear Vruksha's voice! I loved the male narrator. She's also compassionate and a survivalist. ![]() The heroine definitely has fight in her, which is needed because our red viper has something to learn. Of course she wasn't just going to take this. And Vruksha did not disappoint! He knew Gemma was meant to be his the moment he saw her, and he was not going to stop until she was in his arms. Those are some of my favorite traits in this genre! I love a possessive, growly male. But they share two traits-they are so insanely possessive and protective of their females. I absolutely loved this new, exciting, post-apocalyptic world Naomi has created! All the naga males are so different in appearance and personality. Exciting new world-and so dang steamy too! ![]() ![]() ![]() She is the author of the New York Times bestseller I Might Regret This, and is currently adapting “Go Like This,” a short story by Lorrie Moore.
